Villa Trasqua is a historic Tuscan estate whose winemaking roots stretch back over a millennium in Castellina in Chianti, where rolling hillside vineyards and a tradition of disciplined viticulture have shaped its identity. Since 2014, the estate has embraced 100% organic farming, working in deep partnership with Franco Bernabei, one of Italy’s most respected winemakers and a leading authority on Sangiovese and Chianti Classico viticulture. Bernabei’s influence is evident in Villa Trasqua’s focus on the vineyard as a living ecosystem — each parcel understood and managed for its soil, microclimate and phenolic development, with organic viticulture enhancing biodiversity, soil structure and vine health. The vineyards are planted on well-drained limestone and clay-marl soils that capture the quintessential expression of Chianti Classico: bright acidity, red fruit energy and a mineral spine that reflects Tuscany’s unique terroir.

The wines offer incredible value, with Villa Trasqua Chianti Classico DOCG recently garnering a 94 point score from James Suckling for its balanced structure, elegant tannins and vivid fruit profile, affirming its place among the region’s very best value for money Chianti Classico’s. The Villa Trasqua Nerento Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, from the estate’s oldest single vineyard, expresses greater depth and complexity, while the Villa Trasqua “Trasgaia” Toscana IGT offers a broader interpretation of Tuscan varietal character with layered fruit and savoury nuance. This accessibly priced “Super Tuscan” embodies Villa Trasqua’s commitment to terroir integrity and modern organic practice under Bernabei’s masterful guidance.
