SUB-REGION: VALPOLICELLA & SOAVE

FEATURES: VVG

Founded in the hills of Valpolicella at the turn of the millennium by the four Castagnedi brothers, Tenuta Sant’Antonio represents a new generation of Veneto producers deeply rooted in tradition yet unafraid to refine it. Among the earliest estates to recognise the qualitative potential of Eastern Valpolicella, they established vineyards at 300–350 metres above sea level on limestone and marl soils, where cooler temperatures, pronounced diurnal range and constant ventilation naturally preserve acidity and aromatic definition. This pioneering site selection has become central to the estate’s identity, shaping Valpolicella wines of notable freshness, balance and drinkability. The approach reaches its fullest expression in the single-vineyard Amarone della Valpolicella Campo dei Gigli, widely regarded as one of the most precise modern interpretations of the style and praised by Monica Larner (The Wine Advocate) for its clarity of fruit, structural harmony and sense of place. Similarly, the single-vineyard Castagnedi Amarone has earned 18/20 from Jancis Robinson MW, who notes its “concentration and fine tannin structure, balanced by a lifted freshness,” confirming the estate’s mastery of traditional Amarone techniques. Wines such as Monti Garbi Valpolicella Ripasso further demonstrate the estate’s ability to combine depth with finesse.

The same sensitivity to site extends into Soave, where Monte di Colognola and Monte Ceriani, grown on elevated volcanic soils of basalt and tuff, produce Garganega wines of tension, mineral drive and longevity, completing a portfolio that speaks persuasively of terroir across both Valpolicella and Soave.
