COUNTRY: SPAIN

REGION: GALICIA

Viña Almirante is a cooperative-driven winery based around Portas in the Val do Salnés of Rías Baixas (Galicia), a historic Atlantic-influenced viticultural enclave where Albariño has been cultivated for centuries. Vineyards lie close to the Chaín River, on granite-rich, sandy soils that deliver pronounced minerality and crystalline acidity. The cool, moist maritime climate prolongs ripening and preserves intense aromatics, making the region’s whites some of Spain’s most expressive and terroir-driven. Viña Almirante’s flagship Albariño (Vanidade) combines bright citrus, stone fruit and saline freshness with fine acidity, while rare parcels of Caiño Blanco bring textured complexity. Through artisanal hand-harvesting and precise vinification — including cold maceration — the wines articulate Galicia’s Atlantic tension and terroir specificity.
