COUNTRY: ITALY

REGION: BASILICATA

SUB-REGION: VULTURE

Founded in 1998 by the Montrone family on the slopes of Monte Vulture, this estate sits at 200–700 m on volcanic tuff, clay and limestone soils, rich in minerals and superbly drained. The extinct volcano’s ash and rock impart distinctive minerality and sapidity in Aglianico, while the high altitude and continental diurnal range preserve acidity and promote phenolic ripeness. Re Manfredi combines traditional Guyot and spurred cordon trellising with modern vinification and maturation in barrel. Its Aglianico del Vulture wines are powerful yet refined, with concentrated dark fruit, firm tannins, lively acidity and volcanic tension — hallmarks of one of Italy’s most compelling southern reds.
