WALT honours Walter S. Siegel, whose late-19th-century German wine trading business later brought wines to the UK in partnership with English cricketer Ian Peebles in 1937. Today, WALT wines are vinified by Villa Wolf, a historic Pfalz estate (founded 1756 as J.L. Wolf) revitalised by Ernst Loosen in 1996 and led by Patrick Möllendorf. Its vineyards lie in the rain shadow of the Haardt Mountains, with warm, dry conditions and soils of loess, limestone and sandstone that deliver ripe fruit with freshness. WALT wines are clean, expressive and balanced, with Pinot Noir and Riesling showing clarity of fruit and regional minerality in a contemporary German style.
