Pieve Santa Restituta was acquired by Gaja in 1994 in the heart of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, a region with warm, dry summers and cool nights that favour long ripening of Sangiovese on sandy clay soils with galestro and limestone components. Gaja’s approach marries respect for Montalcino tradition with his signature precision: careful vineyard selection, balanced yields and meticulous ageing in both barrique and large oak casks. The estate produces two single-vineyard Brunello expressions — Rennina and Sugarille — both 100 % Sangiovese, with extended ageing that develops layered complexity, refined tannins and enduring structure. These wines reflect their terroir’s minerality and the appellation’s classical profile — fresh acidity, red cherry and earth nuances with compelling aging ability.
