Jordan Family Wines is one of Stellenbosch’s most respected estates, known for a winemaking philosophy that blends terroir-driven precision, sustainable viticulture and elegant style. Established in 1982 by the Cooper family — and now guided by second-generation visionaries — the estate sits on the cooler south-eastern slopes of Stellenbosch mountain, where decomposed granite and shale soils, ocean-moderating breezes and marked diurnal temperature variation create ideal conditions for balanced, expressive wines. Jordan’s vineyards are carefully managed with sustainable and minimal-intervention practices, including cover crops, canopy optimization and responsible water use, all designed to enhance soil health and capture site expression in every varietal.
Among the estate’s defining wines, the Jordan Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc exemplifies the variety’s versatility and structure in a cool-climate context. Sourced from older vineyards with concentrated flavour intensity, it combines depth with refreshing acidity and varietal clarity. The Jordan Barrel Fermented Chardonnay layers texture and complexity with a judicious use of oak that supports rather than overwhelms, leading to a wine of refined breadth and length. Meanwhile, Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the estate’s mastery of Bordeaux varietals in Stellenbosch, showing ripe dark fruit, fine tannin structure and a poised, integrated finish that speaks to both site and careful maturation.
