High-altitude Franschhoek estate producing refined South African wines with elegance, freshness and ageing potential.

COUNTRY: SOUTH AFRICA

REGION: FRANSCHHOEK

Cape Chamonix occupies a unique place in South Africa’s winemaking landscape, rooted in the Franschhoek Valley, one of the country’s most historic and terroir-distinctive regions. The estate’s vineyards benefit from a cooler microclimate shaped by the surrounding mountains, alluvial soils, and elevation, producing fruit with natural acidity, aromatic purity and structural integrity. Since its modern revival, Cape Chamonix has pursued a philosophy that marries careful site selection, minimal intervention in the vineyards, and thoughtful winemaking, allowing each varietal to express its sense of place with clarity and nuance. The estate works with a combination of traditional vine age and precise clonal selection, fostering balance between ripe concentration and vibrant freshness that is characteristic of Franschhoek’s cool hillside sites.

At the heart of the range is the Cape Chamonix Old Vine Chenin, a wine that harnesses the texture, energy and complex fruit spectrum of Chenin Blanc from older blocks, showing depth and sophistication while retaining vivid natural acidity. The Cape Chamonix Chardonnay Reserve delivers a refined expression of cool-climate Chardonnay, with layered orchard and citrus notes framed by subtle mineral tension and a poised structural profile. Completing the trio is the Cape Chamonix Troika Reserve, a distinctive field blend that brings together the complementary strengths of several varieties, resulting in a wine of layered complexity, aromatic depth and textural refinement.
